FAQ for employees
- What are the benefits for the companies?
This is a win-win situation. To match the consolidation in the food industry, this is a natural step for both companies. We need size, constant innovation and a global presence to be able to compete. This will, among other things, pave the way for greater penetration into new growth markets such as Asia and South America.
- Will there be major changes in operation?
Not for the time being. The companies will continue to operate as before, but we will analyze all our opportunities to improve our performance.
- Will the role of Mr. Theo Hoen change?
No, he will continue to direct Stork Food Systems as before.
- What will happen to the management?
Stork Food Systems management will remain in their positions and there will be no changes directly resulting from this transaction.
- Will Stork Food Systems be part of Marel Food Systems’ core-business?
Yes. Food processing equipment is Marel Food Systems’ only business and the two companies share the same long-term vision for advancement in the food processing industry.
- Will Marel Food Systems put money into product development?
Marel Food Systems fully supports Stork Food System’s product development strategy and intends to continue its strong focus on technology and innovation.
- How comfortable is Marel Food Systems with cultural integration?
Marel Food Systems is already an international company operating in 24 countries. The company has an open, flexible approach to integrating different cultural values and traditions. Respect between cultures, countries and nationalities has been integral to our success.
- Which company and brand names will be used?
The same company and brand names will be used as before. We will continue to have the right to use the names Stork Food Systems, Townsend, PMT, Gamco and Titan, etc.
- What are the benefits of working for the new company?
The company specializes in equipment for the food industry and only focuses on that sector. This results in increased opportunities for employee advancement in that area of expertise within the company.
- Will jobs be moved to Iceland?
There are no such plans.
- Will we all get new job-contracts?
There are no such plans. Employees will enjoy all the same benefits as before.
- Will all jobs remain? Will there be any re-organization?
There are no foreseen job losses resulting directly from the acquisition. At the moment we do not plan any re-organization except for the already announced re-organization for Stork Food & Dairy Systems. We are currently in a process of restructuring the division in Amsterdam, in order to put it again on a road towards profitability.
- What will change in work conditions? How about the CAO?
No changes in work conditions are expected. Dutch companies working under the CAO will continue to do so.
- Will jobs in foreign countries remain?
Our ambition is to serve the world food industry so there will continue to be jobs in many countries.
- Are there any company policies in Marel Food Systems that will change our rights or possibilities?
No.
- Will retirement programs or pension funds be changed or withdrawn?
We aim to continue the pension commitments, which are in existence today or affiliate with the industry wide pension fund, which offers comparable benefits.
- Will employment contracts or benefits be changed/cancelled/ renegotiated?
There are no such changes expected.
- What will happen to employees with a temporary contract?
There will be no changes in this area as a result of this acquisition.
- Will there be any changes in salaries, lease and/or commission agreements?
Right now, no such changes are expected.
- Will subsidiaries of Marel Food Systems and Stork Food Systems be merged?
For the time being there are no such plans. We will evaluate all such changes very carefully.
- Will departments be closed?
There are no such plans. Both companies will operate as before. In the long term we might see some changes in the organizational structure to meet the demands of the market.
- Will people or offices be moved?
For the time being both companies will continue to operate as before. The demands of the industry will determine our organizational set-up as we move forward. That might involve new responsibilities for individual employees or opportunities for moves to other offices.
- When will customers and suppliers be informed?
They will be informed via letters and individual phone calls from their contacts.
- Will agency contracts be cancelled?
There are no plans to change agency contracts. We will continue to evaluate the performance of our agencies.
- Will Stork Food Systems’ manufacturing facilities be moved or merged?
No, there are no plans to that effect.
- Will products be discontinued?
Not related to this acquisition. We intend to keep the products of both companies as they are complimentary to each other.
- What will be expected from everybody in the short term?
To continue to operate as before and focus on building the best in business. We urge everyone to embrace change as the key element to making us even stronger in the future.
